Today would have been my Dad’s 94th birthday

My Dad passed on August 5th, 2009.

In less than 72 hours, I will embark on a 1200 mile drive with his 16 year old grandson, Roman…Destination, IMG Academy

God, would my Dad have been proud…He also would have been concerned…Is it too much, too fast, too soon…

Big Guy, I hear you…

I am concerned

I am scared

I am sad

But my Dad was a child of The Great Depression, and a WWII Vet…My Dad valued opportunity

My Dad was an extraordinary analyzer of all things complex…His emotions rarely drove his decision-making…perhaps to a fault, but that’s a post for another day

So as my Dad would do, I’ve turned Roman’s wishes/decision to attend IMG upside down and all around…

I am confident in Roman

I trust Roman

I am ecstatic for Roman, and all that awaits him

Roman, you are ready for this

Having spent countless hours journaling, meditating, and conjuring upon my Dad’s journey…

Roman, I offer you our multi-generational suggestion should you follow only one piece of advice…

Find stillness daily and often…

Stillness allows you to embrace all the moments

Stillness brings clarity

Stillness makes you fluent in the voice of your soul

In stillness you will feel…

Joy
Sadness
Peace
Frustration
Happiness
Anger
Hope
Despair
Passion
Boredom
Connection
Loneliness
Satisfaction
Failure
And so much more…

Roman, this new adventure is not about any punt or kick…

It’s about the tiny little pieces of life that fill the moments of each day…

The things that happen before “the snap”

Go get It All, Roman
